Communication: Transforming Organizational Culture

Communication is essential to productivity and accomplishment in the workplace, yet the environment in which some people work (the pervasive attitudes we define as an organization’s culture) can restrict group performance by discouraging the candid exchange of ideas and opinions. Without communication that is authentic and focused on the real concerns of the organization, there is no possibility for real teamwork.

In this workshop, participants examine the barriers to communication and learn how to overcome them. They discover the relationship between culture and accomplishment – that which seems possible may actually be limited by the attitudes inherent in the organization’s culture. They see how each individual can benefit personally from a commitment to serving each other. Finally, they begin to trust that they can work and be successful together. When the group alters its view of itself, a new horizon for action merges.

Participants will achieve the following outcomes:

  • Create new realms of possibility that did not exist before and transform those possibilities into grounded opportunities for action
  • Be able to speak and listen to other employees to call forth their cooperation, clarity and committed action
  • Initiate and design a reliable pathway – a structure for fulfillment – to accomplish goals through communication and committed action
  • Dissolve barriers to expressing their enthusiasm and passion for their work
  • Give up being reasonable and become generators of their accountabilities and commitments
  • Become responsible for causing themselves and others to be successful in their accountabilities
